Hygieia is a Snake Goddess from a long line of Snake Goddesses, going back for thousands of years. The earliest Snake Goddess figurines are over 8000 years old. The Snake is innately transformative, having the ability to shed its old skin, and is a common metaphor throughout human history for Women, who also experience a monthly shedding and renewal (menstruation). Hygieia's sacred snakes, along with the rod of Asklepios (her father), continues to be a symbol of medicine today, and  her name has been uttered by all people who study medicine.

"I swear by Apollo the physician, and Asklepios, and Hygieia, and Panakeia, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgment, I will keep this Oath and this stipulation ... "
-The Hippocratic Oath

Hygieia wears the mossy green color of fresh herbs of healing, and is adorned with twin serpents, traditional symbols of healing. Her necklace is of malachite, known for its properties of healing and hope. She has red hair.
As an aside, the Goddess Hygieia was often shown with twin snakes when being shown as the patroness of Healing, and this doll's red hair and green eyes reminds me of Ireland - perhaps Brigid was wanting to come through to me a little in this doll.
